Stegmann, family-owned since 1882

A short trip back in time

When our great-grandfather Hermann Stegmann founded the company Stegmann, Hamburg was just beginning to electrify. That was in 1882. Not far from our shop on Jungfernstieg, our original store was located on Gänsemarkt in Hamburg. Hermann's passion was tailoring, so it was a natural step to open a business for white goods and tailoring accessories. The concept became a hit in Hamburg. Hermann simply knew what was needed. And even today, we follow his motto: "…listen closely to the customers and then consider what you can do."

FOUNDED!

The trade license from 1882 holds a place of honor in our shop on Jungfernstieg. By the way: the famous button wall from 1882 from our original store is still in service in our shop and is home to over 15,000 different buttons.

Stegmann Founding

They stand for the individuality of a family business as well as for individual fashion. Because our stegmann hamburg collection is perfect flexi-couture: original, flattering cuts in a wide selection of different prints.

Jungfernstieg

Since 1932, our business has been located on one of Hamburg's most famous streets, the Hamburger Jungfernstieg, which was asphalted in 1838 as Germany's first street. The street got its name from a custom: on Sundays, families would take their unmarried daughters, the "Jungfern" (maidens), for a stroll on the promenade. The former luxury hotel Hamburger Hof was also opened here in 1882, the year our company was founded.

Our headquarters

Step inside, arrive, feel at home. For Great-Grandpa Hermann, customers were queens and were treated as such. We no longer kiss hands today, but our attitude towards the customer remains the same. Just a little more friendly :-)
